Kyoko M.

Author/Blogger/Self-Publishing Coach

Welcome to My World!

Well, if Liz Lemon and Chandler Bing had a girl and she was black...that'd be me. I've written four novels so far and there are more on the way.

Behold my realm of beautiful chaos. Stop by my blog for the ravings of a neurotic, geeky, self-published lunatic. Proceed with caution.

I am a novelist, blogger, nerd, and fangirl extraordinaire. Urban fantasy and high fantasy are my bread and butter—or preferably, my bread and Nutella. I bleed words. Mostly sarcastic ones. You have been warned.

I am a series of small victories and large defeats and I am as
amazed as any other that I have gotten from there to here
-Charles Bukowski

My Inspirations

As a fan of the art of story telling, I have always appreciated books that transported me into the author's imagination. As an aspiring author, I knew words were a way of dealing with what I felt during my adolescent and young adult life without fear of retribution. To that end their were five books in particular that I count among my favorites and would invite you to explore.

Do you have a story to tell?

I have had many conversations with people who have experiences that would make great content for a book, but have been overwhelmed by all they have read on how that is accomplished. Self-publishing is a great way to get your thoughts in the hand of many, but there are several steps leading to that eventuality.

My self-publishing coaching program is designed to help you move from your initial outline to writing, but before then I recommend you read the "500 Ways to be a Better Writer" series by Chuck Wendig, which  is one of the most invaluable books any author can read. Not only is it incredibly helpful and informative, but it's hilarious and easy to read because it's in list form, so each lesson he teaches is only a few paragraphs long.
